I wrote this story to help a friend fix an unfinished Anthology submission. They asked me to go through and edit the existing story and gave me free rein to make whatever changes I saw fit... Well, I saw fit to change all of it. 

One complete rewrite later, I had transformed it from the original story into something else entirely. The publisher chose not to use it since the author returned to finish the original submission, so I'm putting my version up here for free.

It's a little raw since it never went through the editing process, but here it is anyway. Enjoy!
